:Fire: just wanted to pass this along cause I'm quite pleased with the results :) ( by my standards anyway ) [smilie=1:. I got a Pietta 44-40 4 3/4 last year and had soso results . a month ago I decided to get another and got a Chaparral 44-40 4 3/4 . ( they look identical and it was cheaper ) well after some sight fileing and a slight twist of the barrel on the Chaparral I loaded up some Lee 200gr rf 44-40 bullets and some 225 gr RCBS ( 44-225-swc) with 5.3 gr trailboss and took both guns to the range. At 15 yards had 1.25 inch groups from a rest. ( for me thats good ) . I think this will be ideal for cowboy action shooting ( a few of us in the local club are gong to have an informal match cause we recently got exposed to it ). Oh and it shoots good in the old 1894 marlin except it wont cycle the RCBS bullet ( too long )
