action at the gunshow it was fairly clean but someone had ground the radis over the barrel hole and it looked to thin. He said it was a #1 but didn't look anything like my #1 it was a straight round over the barrel mine is slab sided with a step to the barrel hump, hammer wasn't as robust as mine. So I passed for $125, didn't have any screws or springs , a decent price but It didn't look like my 1867 so I pased might have messed up.

The Remington rolling blocks included a #1-1/2, which had a lightened receiver and sculpted down hammer. The upper and lower tangs were of equal length, unlike the heavier military and civilian #1s. They were flat-sided, with no rebate on the side near the barrel. However, all the examples in Marcot's new book have octagon tops.

These were for lighter centerfire and rimfire cartridges. Sometimes people try to remake the military actions into civilian versions. Steve Durren had a series on this conversion in the ASSRA Journal a few years ago.
