I've always wanted one of these. Now I've got one.
I've got a progressive loader set up for 38 Spec. and about 25 different bullet molds in 38 / 357 dia. along with about 5K pieces of cleaned and polished 38 Spec. empty brass.

This one should be fun. This one has Ballard rifling in it. When you cycle the lever , it is super smooth . I've already run some Keith style SWC's through this one, SMOOTH ! !

Thanks,
Ben

Beautiful rifle. Good for you. I keep telling myself I cannot justify another gun, but that one would test my convictions.

What is the difference in the competition model? I have a regular cowboy, but none of that beautiful case hardening on the reciever.

I'm not that knowledgeable about what Marlin is selling and not selling right now.

I went to Marlin's Website, I don't see it listed.

They list an 1894 C but it is in .357 Mag.

Maybe someone else can tell us if this Model ( 1894 CBC in 38 Spec. ) is still made today ?

Take a look at the " foot print " that this Ballard rifling makes on a .360 " as cast " Lee 158 gr. bullet.

Mine runs .3571 on all points on the bullet :

Okay now the ? is are you going to shoot a .360 BOOLIT in the gun? Or go to .359?

JesterGrin_1:

I'm not certain right now. I have a sizer that
mikes .3592 " I might try that.

Will probably shoot 3575, 358, and 3592 and let the " paper down range " tell me what the rifle likes.

May take several trips to the range and hundreds of rounds to determine exactly what this little rifle really likes ?

I wish that Marlin had .38-40 as an option.

Howdy all,

The CBC's are not made anymore. I have seen them go for $900+ on the SASS website.

Ben,

I got lucky with Katie's, My Gunsmith took it as a trade in and sold it to me for what he allowed on it. $450. It is a sweet little rifle and loves the BP loads.
