Anyway to check for leading in my Marlin 94 .357 without a borescope or taking it apart?

Thanks,

Run a tight fitting dry patch through the bore. any leading will show silver streaks on the patch. Also you can feel the drag in areas that have lead.

Thanks, but I will not run a rod in from the muzzle. I am looking for a way to check it as I shoot.

Thanks,

I use a brass bore guide and clean all my levers from the muzzle. Take care and no damage will be done. when cleaning from the breech ,unless you use a bore guide, damage to the throat/bore will be just as bad as muzzle damage.

drag a red colored patch through with a bore snake red shows lead the best.

Fold a piece of white paper so it will fit in the breech bolt slot and hold it so the light reflects into the bore.

Clean the barrel real good. Shoot a few rounds. Look through the barrel. Compare. Course I have a lot of experience in seeing leading in my guns.
We didn't have the internet years ago to tell us how to prevent leading.
This forum can help you to completely eliminate leading, If you follow a few hard and fast rules.
Boolit fit, boolit fit, boolit fit.
I have no idea how I did as well as I did, with boolits that were nearly always too small.
