I set up my 5' long 16" diameter gas pipe in the back yard.

About 3 oz of Cartridge Goex in a powder chamber put the beach ball from 50 to 75' in the air.

Life is good.

Well I will try this again. We usually have a big party for the 4th but dry conditions here so we just had family. Youngest son was setting off some fireworks but they were lame. So I got out the 54 cal. muzzel loader. Loaded it up with 300 grains of BP subsitute and put a wad of damp newspaper over that and set it off.
The kids all said it was AWESOME shook everything around. I did this 6 times and then quit.
Sort of surprised I didn't get a visit from the local L.E. but I think they would have just said to "have fun".....Wes

Nothing fancy. Went to a friend's range and sent a few downrange out of the Krag 98 and a roundball muzzleloader. A salute for ol' TR with an "up yours" for the current DC crowd. [smilie=s:

I guess the 54 cal. salutes were good SWMBO was a little miffed about the noise makers. She reported that we rattled every window in the house and we were about 60 yds from the house when we touched it off everytime.
They were great fun may have to do that on a regular basis for the kids benifit...Wes

Went to the range and shot my new .223 single shot, and my .56 flinter pistol...

seemed like an appropriate combo to celebrate freedom...

Didn't get a chance to shoot anything over the 4th, but got a lot of reloading and casting done. Sure got a kick out of watching Double-D and the cannon with the bowling ball shot. Now that's fun!

Military bolt match on the 4th. We had a one hour rain delay between the group and score targets.

Group 1: 2.7sumthin (first round went north - other 9 were way under 2 inches)
Group 2: 1.6sumthin
Score 1: 96
Score 2: 100-4X (really nice round group)
Score 3: 95-1X (only two ragged holes in the target - problem was that one of them was in the 9-ring)

Light conditions were tough with the variable overcast and changing wind conditions, but it was a lot cooler that it has been for a while. All in all, it was a pretty nice day. Good company. Of course, now that it's rained and getting hot and sunny again, it's gonna be mow, mow, mow...
