I have recently put a 16" puma 454 casull on layaway (ill pick it up when I get home on R&R leave) and I am thinking about 3 different boollit weights to use with this rifle. The lee 452-255RF for light plinking and fun loads at around 900-1000fps. The second would be something around 330-340gr for hunting bears, moose and elk. I have been talking to a few other puma 454 owners and that seems to be the cat's meow weight for that rifle. I am looking at getting somewhere between 1650-1800fps with a boolit of that weight, and if you use the old keith killing power formula, it sounds like a real thumper. The last weight I am looking at is a heavyweight at around 390-405gr- I live in alaska and the combination of the short puma and a 400ish gr boolit at say 1500 fps would deter even the most tenacious of bear up close (they get pretty big sometimes). If you have any ideas of who makes molds of this weight i would really appretiate the info. Thank you for your time.
