Got into a discussion a few years ago with another collector who had purchased this Model 1916 Dismounted belt, bayonet, scabbard and frog. Both the belt and scabbard are marked 5CGA so they've been together for a long time. The belt is dated 1916 and "Toronto".

The bayonet is a Remington dated 1913 and is for a Pattern 1914 rifle... which I have an early Remington P14.

The collector was going to separate the bayonet, scabbard & frog from the belt and I objected enough that he asked me... nicely...to put my money where my mouth was. So I bought the entire rig for about $100 or so. Its missing the "braces", the shoulder straps.

This is my maternal grandfather, Stanley Minns, 1896-1967. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1916.... from his home town, Toronto.

My great uncle, Raymond Minns, born 1891. He saw combat in France and made it back to Toronto alive.
