I have seen quite a few Gibbs & Navy Arms .45-70 renditions of the Enfields recently. They seem to have very shallow rifling. Does anyone have experience with these and cast bullets?
Yes and they are GREAT with cast. With iron sights mine is just about the most accurate cast boolit shooter i have. I have loaded everything from a Lee 340 to a postell 535. The biggest problem with the Gibbs is the stock is NOT designed for 45-70 let alone heavy loads in a 45-70. I used a Boyd's stock and a recoil pad and that was an improvment over the brass buttplate.
