What is Dacron? Where can it be obtained? How do you actually use it as a case filler? Any dangers associated with using it? Any other info I may need to know? Trying load cast for an M1A Scout ... attempting to get it to function with cast loads!!

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can render!!

What is Dacron? Where can it be obtained?

Any place that sells quilting supplies, such as a fabric store.

How do you actually use it as a case filler?

Cut a piece, about 3/4 gr for most cases, and poke it into the case in contact with the powder. Don't force it into a tiny wad on top of the powder. It should fill the space between the boolit and the powder. The filler serves to keep the powder near the flash hole.

Any dangers associated with using it?

That is open to opinion. Some folks claim that you will raise pressures or risk damage to your chamber. Others claim that this is very unlikely.

I have used dacron or cotton fluff in several calibers with no problem, and will continue to do so when I feel that it provides some benefit.

Any other info I may need to know? ....

Try to find a load/powder that fills more than half the volume of the chamber and try it without the filler.

If you use the filler, don't pack it tight.
