This post is my 1k mark so I thought I would share my favorite J-word shooters.
Hopefully you will see one of these next to a p-dog I shot at 1000 yards next week.

My 243 Super Rockchucker, is built on a Interarms Mark X action, it is wearing a 30" 1:10 twist Hart barrel, a Weaver 20T scope, sets in a Fajen Benchrest stock and has a Harris Bipod. This little 15 pounds rifle throws 75gr Hornady Hollow Points into 1/2" groups at just under 3750fps and 58gr Moly V-max into 3/8" groups at 4200fps.

The other laying down is my Remington 700BDL 25-06, with a 24" tube, Boyds vented Varmint stock, Burris 8-32x, set on a 15MOA EGW scope base, throws 100gr Nosler Ballistic tips into .25" groups at 3150fps and 100gr SMK's into .02" groups at 3020fps.

The cartridge holder isnt on the 25-06 all the time its more or less just to hold the drop charts on the rifle.
Here are the drop charts out to 1000 for each rifle, and the handloads I use in them, 2 on the left at 243SRC, the other 2 at 25-06.

Doug, I can see it now, many years into the future, some old grey haired pdog will be sitting around the fireplace with his great grand pdogs and one of them will ask, "Great Grand Pdog, will you tell us the story again about how you lost you left pinky toe nail in the thousand yard shot?" No one will remember you as the trigger man...

My favorite J-word shooter is a 257 Wby. with 4X16 Millet scope. I occasionally shoot a long range prarie poodle to keep my deer shooting eye in shape. Our coyote population is beginning to come back from being decimated by Red Mange, so there will be some long range big dogs in it's future.
