Is Accurate Arms AA2495 and AA2495BR the same powder. My AA manual is several years old and shows AA2495BR. The 3 lbs I have is just AA2495. Is there a difference? Also is it close enough to IMR4895 or H4895 to use the same starting load data.

I tried to download their data manual but it will not fully download. Thanks for any info or help. Kyfarmer.

what caliber (s) and bullets are you loading? I'll gladly post the current data if you like. or PM me with your email and i can email the file to you. i have it saved.

As for me, i don't trust that any powder is " same as" or "close enough to" . i don't subsitute load data. Call me chicken if you like, but the risk isn't worth it to me.

I finally got the AA manual downloaded. It still doesn't answer my question of whether there is a difference in AA2495BR and AA2495. I notice they also changed AA2015BR to just AA2015.
I reload for about 20 different rifle or handgun cartridges and have used a lot of IMR4895 and surplus 4895. I just picked up three lbs. of AA2495 at a local gun shop where I had a gift certificate I had to use up and there was nothing else on hand I could use other than some overpriced guns. I told my kids next time give me the certificates with pictures of dead presidents on them for my birthday. They're good anywhere.

I did a search on Google for info on AA2495 and found that many reloaders think that IMR4895, H4895, Surplus 4895, and AA2495 all are one and the same surplus powders. I'm not sure. kyfarmer

I ran into the same questions with AA-2015. It also used to be called AA-2015BR. I sent an email to Accurate Arms, and they gave me a date when the powder was changed so I could see which data to use. I suggest doing the same thing in your case, then you will know for sure. I know there was a difference in the old, and new cans of the AA-2015 I had.

Powder is made in "lots" and burning rate can and does change with every lot. I always back off 5% and work back up when getting new powder. Besides, it gives me another excuse to shoot!
