I’ve got an S&W 460V with a 5” barrel. I’ve had the thing for about a year now and I have not shot a cast boolit through it. What would be a good cast boolit for this hand cannon? I originally bought the revolver for hunting but about the time I bought it I had a 629 fall into my hands. I scoped the 629 and decided to make it my hunting revolver. I will eventually get around to using the 460 for hunting but it ain’t easy packing that big rascal around.

Oops, I should have posted this in the Wheelgun forum. Mods feel free to move it if need be.

i would recommend you pick out any Qualty slug you like may want a gascheck if you plan to let her rip at maximum. 300 to 400 grain slugs work terribly well, actually the heavier the better! if subjected to extreme cold weather the .460 is more efficent with boolits in the 400g class if loaded heavy. i could list loads that perform great for me with the Lyman 452651 and NEI # 321 cherry. have the NEI in both a 360g plainbase and a 420g gascheck. but it would be easier for you to consult the Hodgdon data for similar wieght slugs and pick the powder you prefer for the power level you desire. hodgdon has got it covered frommild to wild using Trailboss through H11o &lil'gun.

Thanks Shorty. I was hoping to see a GB on a 350-400gr class boolit W/GC here sooner or later. Heavier is better was my line of thought too. I'll just wait around and see what pops up in the future.
