I got a 207gr 44cal Lee 6cav gb mould in the mail today.

It's one that was ran a while back but I just got one from GLL, NIB so to speak.

Cleaned it well, heated the pot and cast a few.

They drop at .433 and out of round to about .434, so not too bad.

Managed to get a few good ones. :)

so checked, sized, and lubed them.

Not too bad.

The meplat is bigger than the boolit I used to kill my last deer, so I may think about using this one.

Here's a pic of a cast one and one checked and lubed.

I'm not quite sure 200 grains of lead is sufficent to kill 80 lb whitetails and I know it'll never be up to snuff for a NC 11 point. I think you should try one of the Mihec 305 grain .44 moulds he's offering.

Nice boolit Blammer. Looks great.

Kind of festive with the lube on there. lol

Mine is coming in the mail also and I can't wait to get it and give it a run in my .444 Marlin. My other design that was similar to this one will be in around the end of July and I will see which one performs better in the Marlin. I think this would work great also with no check and a nice mild load of H110/2400/Unique powder out of a .44 revolver.

My two moulds also cast slightly out-of-round but only 0.001" at the parting plane. That cleans up uniformly in sizing.

I've had this mold for almost 2 months now and have yet to get the first bullet cast !

I was however fortunate enough last year to get about 125 bullets cast from one of the first run of these molds . A friend on "Marlinowners" cast me up a bunch of them in 50/50 Lino / WW and water quenched them . I sized and lubed them at .431" and shot them in my 1966 First Model 444 !

They shot quite well with XMP5744 and I had the rifle set up for deer last season . Sorry to say however on the day or two I carried that rifle no shots presented themselves . I do not however see any reason this bullet wouldn't work fine with a reasonable shot on any deer up to 150 pounds .

Blammer:

Did you have any trouble getting the checks on ?

Took good thumb pressure to get them on; a little bit too much if you ask me.

My boolit was sized to .430 so the large "side" on the nose is what's prevelent.

Blammer:

Hunter64 has had trouble getting the checks on his as well !

Mine are "snug" but apparently not as bad as the two of you.

I will ask if others are having problems as well.
