It's tough to make a levergun truly ugly, but that succeeded.

But with a little sandpaper, a little elbow grease, and a little oil, iy will look like a Marlin SHOULD look like! A little worn, a little rounded, a little scratched/dented...

I can understand doing that to a recently made gun, but not an old codger.

My mate is a cowboy shooter and does up guns in aussie designs, mainly using junker guns with good internals for competition overseas. Draws a lot of attention and gets the guns through customs with a smile.

All in the eyes of the beholder I suppose, we see it as a fine old gun, not to be interfered with, another would see it as some ol' gun, sort of; "well at least I ain't messing up a good one" sort of thing.

Well, it could be used for a tent post or barbed wire can be nailed to it, the paint job alone would scare the cattle away from it as an fence post. I see why it was in a pawn shop after last season, although nobody stunk as bad as the Lions did! Robert

I wouldn't carry that thing around even if it had a New Orleans Saints logo on it.

Ugly as sin, but it kept the price down to a real bargain for a Model 36 Marlin! A quick dose of paint remover, and some wood finish applied and it will be a neat gun for a little money.

That Bozo probably has bondo underneath all of that horrid paint!

Come on guys, the Marlin is a cowboy gun, and the Dallas Cowboys are the ultimate cowboys.... or maybe they once were. What's not to love?

Here's a couple of cowboy guns I painted for friends.

craig yers have some [tehanos and texas?] taste to them.
i think a 10 y.o. done that.
i have been looking for a nice 32-20 ballard rifeled marlin for some time but if that were a 32 i would still be looking, that was just wrong.

I agree that he did a horrible paint job. I just couldn't resist making the connection between the cowboy gun and the Dallas Cowboys. Plus if you think about it, they play about as good as that gun looks. Maybe this will be their year.

..............Some people!! :-) But for what it sold for a new set of wood will have it up and perking and it'd still be a resonable investment. Talking about ugly?! You all should have seen the Garand I bought in 1994. Mechanically a superlative rifle and a wondrus shooter. That's what I wanted and that's what the Garand guy picked out and shipped. But ugly???? Rather, butt ugly :-)

I HAD to shoot it, and you have to have the wood attached to do it, but I came this close to sticking it in a couple paper grocery bags lest anyone see me with it, HA!

Give the guy a break, he's probably new to all this and was just trying to come up with something that would appeal to the "cowboy action shooters". :-D

I saw the blue and thought it was some fool Colt's fan.

Now why did you have to say that? Had a nice Cowboys bashing thread and you gotta do that. You hurt me a little there. Surely no Colts fan would stoop to that.

But guys. Read the description...."Stock has been custom painted and decorated." And all for $230. Looks like there's money to be made custom painting and decorating guns. Now where did I put that leftover can of Dutch Boy? RD

I see Carpetman's twisted, misguided passion for the Dallas Cowboys all over this. SPILL IT, Ray--this is your gun, RIGHT??!!

So wrong--and on so many levels. As Buckshot and others mentioned, it would be an affordable route to owning a fine Model 36 flat-bolt. I would give 230 bones for that debacle, provided I could pick it up after dark in a town a long way from home--and the price included a GUN CASE.

I never knew that Marlin had made a Model 36 Cowboy. Too bad they didn't make it with a straight grip and octagon bbl. ................ That Texas sun done fried someones noodle.
