what's the feasibility of making your own checks? The different methods.... homespun or professional?

Or Pat Marlin is selling ones that he made over on the swapping & selling board. Or you can buy a freechex off of evil bay. & a few other guys here on the board have also made their own check makers.

Speaking of using other materials...

One time I saw a guy at a gun show selling a gas check maker, but the point is he was using, of all things, the sheet metal from the sides and bottom of a 3 lb coffee can! Talk about cheap and plentiful raw materials! Coffee cans are/were made from a very mild grade of LIGHTLY tinned steel. Barrel wear would be slightly accelerated as opposed to copper, I'd think.
