Now first off, I reload 'regularly' for my 71/84 no problem. 370 gr .448" bullet. However, just because I can try it...

I'm thinking of taking the primed cases to the range and a can of FFG with a powder measure. Fill them right on the spot, just about full. Then drop an ox-yoke patch or lubricated wad on top and finger seat a .451 lead round ball. Carefully chamber so it doesn't dump out.

Option 2: same principle but with a light load of smokeless and the balls rolled in LLA. Mabye 3-4 gr of bullseye. The .451 ball should provide just enough neck tension in the .446 sized neck.

What do you think?

.............Don't know about the BP portion of the question but the RB and smokless should be a lot of fun! Let us know what happens!

I shoot a 71/84 Mauser sporter that someone years ago sporterized by cutting the barrel off and making the magazine a 1/2 length. I have shot both black powder and smokeless in it but never tried round balls. However I have shot 457 RB in a 45-70 with excellent results. A full case of powder may be too much for the RB in the 11mm. use that load with a regular bullet with BP lube and you will enjoy it. leave enough space so that you compress the powder at least 1/16 inch when you seat it. Then you will get the true flavor of what the rifle was like to shoot originally.

Well guys, it twas a good idea, but I found out that I'm all out of .451 round balls! And no mold to make the same!

Gotta buy more. My Remington New Army has to be shot. :)
