--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i was given this 1892 winchester orignally chambered for the 25/20 but converted over to a .218 bee by using a stevens springfield model 15 barrel. i want to make this back into the orignally caliber 25/20. so i wll need a barrel and magazine tube. any one here know where i might locate either? tried gun parts but they have none in stock. any help would greatly appreciated.

When I need hard to find parts that Numrich does not have I do a Google search for "gun parts". There are numerous parts dealers and it may take a little searching to find what you need. I have even bought gun parts from Canada.

Good morning
You might try a "Want to buy" over at Paco Kelly's sight. Lots of lever shooters there. People are removing the small "worn" barrels for 44-40 swaps. So you might find a reasonably priced 25-20 barrel. To get a "Like new " origonal you may have to lay out some BIG bucks as there were few made and this is a collectors caliber MORE than a routine shooters caliber.

thankx M5155. iwas going to try and chamber to .44/40 but this action is smaller internally to where you wouldn't be able to get the .44 round from the magazine tube up into the barrel chamber without removing metal as the passage way is narrow.

so what i have found so far is that to convert this rifle over to use the .44/40 round i will need to change the feed rails, bolt, carrier, magazine tube, and barrel. to bring it back to 35/20 caliber i would have to get a barrel blank chamber it thread it and contour it. either way it will probably cost me $500.00 + but seeing how the rifle was given to me it might be worth it. well i guess i will see what i can find in parts...

Try, http://www.winchesterguns.com/services/obsolete.asp

Also try, http://www.windriverrifle.com/home.html

And, http://www.turnbullrestoration.com/

I think you'll find satisfaction at one of those, maybe not cheap...

I barrel these up quite often. Do you want carbine or rifle? The wall thickness on the small caliber action is thicker than the large caliber so converting may be a bigger problem than you think. This guy may have a used barrel, http://www.stevesgunz.com/ , also can answer many questions about the 92. http://www.wisnersinc.com/has new mag tubes and mag tube rings.

google Jack First Gun Parts.
He only does business over the phone (no web site).
If it exists he either has it or knows where to get it.
The other suggestion is Old Western Scrounger LLC(can be found on the webb)
They have a lot of parts they do not advertise so send them an e-mail and ask for what you want.
Hope this helps.
