Is there a safe way to open up primer pockets that are to tight? Hate to toss brass after 1 or 2 shots because the primer pockets are to tight. Not at 1 dollar a case. Thanx Grant

Primer pocket swager. I have the RCBS but I think others make them too.

Lyman used to make a primer pocket reaming tool to remove crimp from Mil Spec Cases. I have one thats very old from my dad's stuff.

I have a primer pocket swager for the press from RCBS. I also have a hand tool from lyman with a wooden handle, that I just got last year for touch ups.

I've done several lots of brass with the Lyman Primer Pocket Reamer. It works well, but you have to be sure that you don't cock it in the pocket and elongate the pocket. The swaging tool is probably the best way to go. It's not removing material. In either case, openning up a tight pocket is perfectly safe, as long as you do it correctly.

Thanks for the replies. Think I found the problem, press seems to out of alignment. Tried on 41 mag. and 22 hornet same diffuculty. Looks like I will be getting a new press. Thanx Grant

On the tight pockets I went with the hand primer tool. Primers go in nice and easy like they should. Seems my primer arm was wacked out slightly. Thank for all the info.:drinks: Grant
