I cast my own shot and have been reloading it for my 12 & 20 ga. The other day a friend 'introduced' me to skeet shooting. I'm hooked:-D
He was shooting a Stoger O/U and we shared the gun (I had a single shot for Trap). He was shooting factory WW target loads(1 1/8 oz shot 1250fps?) I was shooting my 1 oz home cast (size 8,7,6 mixed) over 700x for 1050fps.
When the Fat Lady was singing I had 7 clays on him:drinks:

I have since traded a .45 for an O/U 12 ga:mrgreen: ( A Baikal 28" barrel,some ammo (12ga & .22)and $50.00 bucks off of the S&W 22 auto.

What are you using to cast your shot?

Well done NSP64. I love shooting clays too. I always do better with reloads. But it is just as cheap to buy loaded rounds. The last time I bought shotgun primers they were $60 per K. You can buy a box of factory ammo for $8 here.

This thread is how I found this site. I was looking for some cheaper shot and found this. I have since made two shot makers.

Have 120,000 registered trap in the last 35 years and it is addictive. Wally World has the 4 pack of 25 target loads for around $23 and they will smoke em out to 27 yds. Trap shooters are a crazy fun bunch and you wil find all kind of ideas to reduce recoil, pattern better etc. My current trap gun has the barrel bent to shoot 100% high and has a release trigger. Makes my concentrate hard when I switch to handguns. All fun, be safe.

I use a laddle with a tiny hole in it and a ramp on the bottom to 'bounce ' the shot off of. The laddle sits under my bottom pour pot and I catch the shot in a pan filled with antifreeze.:drinks:
