Ok guys, What's the trick to removing the bolt from a krag? Should be simple but it's got me stumped.

Open the bolt and retract it. With your thumb, lift the front of the extractor while continuing to rotate the bolt handle counterclockwise. Withdraw from the receiver. If the rifle has an aftermarket receiver sight, the gallows arm will have to be removed before you can rotate the extractor.

I usually lift on the extractor with a screwdriver blade. If you have a tight extractor spring you can bruise your fingers before it lifts enough to rotate. But otherwise not a trick, just you have to 'feel' for it to dismount as you turn and it comes right out.

I have to laugh at remembering the first time I did this. It just looks like you
BROKE it! And if you do it wrong putting it back it can cost you a chunk of finger
meat, too. :-)
