Guys, I picked up a pre USRAC Win 94 in 44 mag tonight. I have a trails end 45 currently and this is vastly different and I need some guidence. First the newer (2002 vintage) will feed a much longer oal, I can easily feed RCBS270SAA, Lee 45RF to the lower crimp and even a Long Flat Nose 360 cast perfomance easily. The 44 is a different breed, won't even begin to feed a 429421, it will however feed the Lee 31044RF seated to the UPPER crimp, but not lower. Now all my loads have been worked up to the to the lower groove for my revolvers. Does anyone have a good load for this boolit seated to the uppper crimp groove using Unique, Herco, Lil Gun or 2400?

I load the Lee 310 gr RF over 12 gr 2400 loaded to the first (top) crimp groove for a friends S&W 29.

Nice lttle rifles, aren't they?

I've got a 20" 1972 (? or '73) Winny 94 44 mag.

I stopped looking for the "right slug" after the Lee 310gr. I've worked up to 16.5gr of 2400 - it went over the chrono at 1500fps. It has enough thump for me and the accuracy was there, but I'm sure there are some that go faster & hotter.

Mine slugs at .432" and it seems to do just fine with a .432 Lee 310 with ACWW.

Howdy Heavy Lead
Something I do with my 41 mag Marlin Cowboy is shorten brass a bit to get it to that magic length.
Why factories do not awaken and realise that there are people interested in HEAVY projectiles ??? But I guess when we are the majority and not the "store bought fellers" things will change.
Mike... finally I am assemblying my irons.

I stopped looking for the "right slug" after the Lee 310gr. . The TKO of that load is 28.37. Compare it to a 180 gr 300 mag @ 3000 fps = 23.76. The Lee 310 might be the best ever 44 mag bullet.
