I have 130 grain lead .38 Spl. RNFP bullets I would like to load. I have both Accurate#2 and Red Dot Alliant powders. My primers are Federal Premium small pistol Match GM100M. The issue I have is both Powder company sites do not have data to load 130 grain bullets. They jump from 125 grain to 140 grain. I prefer to use the Red Dot powder if I can get someone to provide me with a good starting recipe. I contacted both companies via Email and have not gotten a reply. I would like to do some loading very soon, so is there ANYONE out there willing to stick your neck out and get me started? The guns I am shooting these loads out of are both Ruger SP101 revolvers, one a .38 Spl and the other a .357. Thanks guys for Helping a Newcomer to your site.

I am now adding that the Alliant Rep emailed me and said to start with 4 to 4.5 grains of red dot for my 130 grain bullets. Does this seem kind of high to anyone. I was leaning more towards 3 to 3.5 grains as Red dot is a fairly fast burning powder. I am thinking that I will load say 10 rounds at 3 gr., 10 rounds at 3.5, 10 at 4.0 and 10 at 4.5. I was told to insure a firm crimp. But if anyone out here has better ideas let me know.

No, it is not high for either a modern 38 or 357. For the 38, use 3.8; use 4.5 for the 357. If accurate enough, don't change. ... felix
