I took the ol 1952 marlin out today, for some more load testing. 2 different boolits, 170 rcbs, and 170 ranchdog.Powder charges from 31-h335,up to,,,,dont really wanna say. Every group was an inch to way under an inch@50 yards. This old gun shoots so friggen well, that its hard to beleave. Use waterdrop wwplus 5% babbit, and can take this load up to 2300 f.p.s. with exellent accuracy.

Maniac, that's good to hear. I just ordered one of Ranch Dogs molds for my 32, hope I can get mine to shoot CB. I figured I had better get one before he closed up his shop.

Everytime out,i think either the rcbs or the ranchdog is the most accurate. Then next time, the opposite is usually true. There so close, that they are practially the same as far as accuracy. For flat out full power loads, the rcbs has a very very small edge in accuracy.

I've been using the RCBS mold in 32 Specials for about 8 years now and in my 32-40 for about 5 years I think with excellent results !

Also have used the RCBS bullet in the 32 Special and the 32-40 to kill deer with very good results .

I have been messing with the Ranch Dog 323-170GC since it's inception ! Although I have not taken any game with this bullet I have shot a pile of paper and metalic silhouettes with both the 32 Special and the 32-40 !

I don't think one could go wrong with either mold !

But on a personal note I have to give the slight nod to Ranch Dog's design !
