What is the difference between the 45 rimmed and the 45 S&W Schofield?

I beleive the 45 Rimmed you refer to is the 45 Auto rim designed for the model 1917 revolver Smith and Colt made in WWI. It has a very thick rim to take the place of the half moon clips that held the 45 ACP cartridge.
The Scholfield is a shorter version of what some people call the 45 Long Colt designed for the S&W top break revolver from the calvary days.

I found out several things in last few hours. I had some 45 rimmed and They wont work in a S&W 460. But the schofield will. It will make a light plinker load for the 460. I dont know if the short boolit will shoot in that gain twist but I will find out. Anyone see the artical in AR on the 460. I know mine shoots very good but near 1 1/2 in at 50yds is very good . The federal was at 1in. Thats from 8in barrel .
