Loaded up some "cowboy loads" with Trail boss in both the 41 mag and a 45-70 SS. Now this is fun!! 6 gr of TB in the 41 with several cast boolits including 210gr Lee TL and a 220 Keith style produced very light recoil and good accuracy in both the 57 and the FG. This is the first load that I have liked for the TL boolit. Even had my 8 YO son shooting the lever and having a good time. Same experience with the 45-70. 12gr TB behind seveal types of 405 gr cast. Again, a pleasure to shoot. Sh :) ot 20 rounds before I realized that the slip on recoil pad was missing. Very little to no leading in any of the guns. Powder residue is sooty and black, not as clean as I would of expected, but not any worse than other smokeless powders. I think that I will using more TB in the future.

Always check your loading data, do not rely on me.

Enjoy

I'll second the trailboss in 41mag. In my Blackhawk with a 240gswc and 4.5g of trailboss she was one sweet shootin rig.

Has anybody ever tried this stuff in a .30-06 or any other rifle caliber with cast bullets? What cast bullet powder (high volume/low energy) is close to Trail Boss, and has anybody found a list of powder burning rates with TB on it? It may be too new to be on these lists.
