I had posted this in another thread yesterday, but here it is again:

I just got my April Handloader magazine today. There is an article concerning the Winchester issue which I won't type in it's entirety, but here's an excerpt:

"FN that owns USRAC and Browning, announced the Winchester New Haven, Connecticut, plant was closing its doors - out of business. Models affected were the 94, 70, and 1300. The models 86, 92, and 95 lever actions made in Japan would continue, along with firearms manufactured in other USRAC facilities, including over-under shotguns, the Super X3 shotgun, and Super X semiautomatic rifle."

SO you guys are saying they may not be closing?

THeir website sucks for sure, and needs redesigned.

They are closing the New Haven plant and the models being manufactured there (94, 70, and 1300) are going away (at least for now). Models made in Japan (86, 92, and 95 lever actions) will still be produced.

Give a year or two for the market to settle down and you will see Miroku made 94s and 70s again. This firm has been making Browing firearms for years and does a great job.

I'll second that! Would love to see one in .35 Whelen as well. Even better would be .35 Winchester, but I know that would be asking too much!!!!!;)

Oh, that's purty.......just before I went on the rat trip, I drooled on a couple of the Rising Sun Remakes of the 1895 flavor at a Simi Valley shop......one each in 30-06 and 30-40, 1100 bones per copy. I NEED one like a trout needs a mountain bike.....but what does "need" have to do with it? I'm not sure how hard I would run 30-06 rounds in one of these examples, I'm thinking 150 grainers at 2700 FPS (1906-vintage ballistics) might be my limit.

Well, I've got a browning 1895 in 30-06 and a newer winchester marked example rebarreled by dennis Olsen in 35 whelen (looks like factory). Both very nice and if you ever get a chance to compare these jappers with an original..the Jappers are nicer, better fit, no doubt the materials are superior and tolerances closer. My bitch is no new example in 762x54R..........of which more 95's were chambered than the rest put together. I find that ironic. 762x54R is easy to get and duplicates 308 ballsitics quite readily. A real pisser in my estimation. I always wanted a 95 and wound up with 2. I'd have a third in a heartbeat if they'd do it in 762x54R.

Jump, how about one in 303 british??. Still better if in 30-40 krag. But would not turn one down in 7.62x54 either. I all my years of fooling around with firearms I have only seen ONE '95 in 7.62x54. Was in pitifil condition. Frank
