What alloy mix are you guys using for revolvers. I was thinking about just using WW`s but wanted some opinions. I shoot 45Colt, 44 special, 38 special. I`d like to have soft cast bullets since i`m not hot-rodding any of `em.

Hullo Burch and welcome , IMHO you can save your WW for magnum pistolas and rifles.
Take a look at the 20-1 mix or 16-1 , the 20-1 should shoot fine for your pistols if the boolits are sized correctly for the cylinder throats / barrels , lots of folks go .001-.002 over bore size to seal the gases and prevent leading. It is proven to work , I keep mine .002-.003 and have good results.
Good Luck

I'm getting good results with 50/50 ww/lead in 45 ACP and 38 special, but have had just as goo using straight WW. DALE

I just used straight WW and they work fine for my 45 Colt Bullets

I have been using W/W's plus 2% tin (greatly enhances fill-out) for general revolver use. The bullets cast extremely well, do NOT have to use super heated alloy for fill out and the bullets look nice, too:mrgreen:.

The most important thing is that these bullets, sized correctly for the revolvers, shoot extremely well.

I have been using 50/50 WW/pure for most of my "Special" velocity (<900 ft/s) loads and straight WWs for "Magnum" velocity (900 -1400 ft/s) loads with very few problems once sizing to match throat diameter issue is dealt with. Could probably get away with 1/3 WW 2/3 pure for lots of loads but lots of blended 50/50 already made up.

I use a universal alloy of WW+.05% Tin. Good results. I guess I could cut it with WWs for standard pistol loads, but just havent gotten around to it.
