One of the guys at work decided to get rid of his marlin guide gun the other day. He called and said if I could bring him cash in the morning I could have it and a new set of dies for $325. WOW heck yah I'll be there first thing.

Well now it's mine so I had to order a new 330gr lyman hp mold. My question is what mixture of lead would be the best for this boolit running 1500fps or so in order to get good expansion?

I've shot the Gould 330 grain HP a bit faster then that in both my 1895CB and one of my 1895G's cast from nothing more then aircooled wheelweights !

It shot well on paper and was a good deer killing bullet as well .

And in my biased opinion XMP5744 and SR4759 are both excellent powders for your application . With the nod between those two going to XMP5744 again in my biased opinion !

At 1500 FPS you should get expansion with plain ol' WW, AC or WQ, with that "holler pint". Mine expand even in solid form to an extent on sand.

My midway order came in middle of last week. 40 pieces of brass, .459 sizer die, and a Lyman 330gr hp mold. I cast up about 100 boolits today. They ended up being .4585 and
.4595. not to bad for out of round. I haven't put them on the scales yet but I will in the morning. Hopefully I'll have time to size, lube and load tomorrow afternoon. If nothing else I'll have the kids size and lube while I work on the honey do list.
