Need help selecting a new set of blocks for a 32-40 used in a new Win high-wall. I don't want to breach seat.

I've had real good luck with LBT molds in 170gr LFN. My 1902 vintage 1893 marlin will shoot easily under 2" at 100 yards with open sights at 1400 fps

How deep are you pockets. Paul Jones makes the most lovely moulds for such.

You should be able to find some of the old PB'd Lyman moulds around. I've found that these shoot pretty well in my rebarrelled Marlin 336 .32-40.

If you want a GC mould, the 32-170-FN RCBS does well in mine.

Either solution is better/cheaper than going the custom route, IMO./beagle

I feed my Winchester the Saeco 165gr tapered, 200gr tapered and the RCBS 170gr FPGC. I like the RCBS for hunting.

Lyman 319247 is the original design (give or take) that was loaded into the factory lead bullet loads 100+ years ago. It's still available as of the last time I checked.

The problem I am seeing with the Seaco is that it says in the Midway catalog that dia is .314 and the Seaco web site says its a tapered boolit and sizing is not recommended but it dont say what size it is. The RCBS says boolit dia is .321 so that kind of scares me. I have heard a lot of complaints on the Lyman molds throwing under size boolits latley. The LBT mold looks to maybe be a good way to go.
Looking in the Lyman Cast Boolit Handbook there was a 184gr Boolit #321297 that looks pretty good. I usually cast with about a 30 to 1 soft alloy and am trying to pick something that will drop a .323 to .324 dia slug with soft lead. Thanks for the help guys.

Lyman mold #319247 is in fact the original design for the 32-40, It is still available but who knows what the casting diameter is. If its undersize it is possible to lap it out or have someone do it for you. Another idea is to watch the auctions on E-Bay for "reloading tool" or "bullet mold" to see if one of the original WRA molds for the 32-40 is listed. They appear regularly. Those molds are the right one, the right size, are single cavity and are well finished with walnut handles and brass ferrules. However get ready to play the e-bay game of "shop to win" where bidders don't know what the flip they are doing and it becomes a giant urination contest. But if you really want the right mold then be prepared to shell out for it. I have two of them in 38-55 and they shoot really well. Good shooting. LLS
