I was shooting with a friend of mine on this weekend who has a pretty nice romainian Draganov on which the scope is giving him fits. This has one of the one piece offset scope and mount combo's. Can't say if it's original, but it looks like the original and the knobs are printed in gibberish, so it may be. The issue is that it cannot be adjusted far enough to get the horizontal crosshair on the paper at 100 yards. And that last click moves the POI about a foot! Closest you can get is about 8" low before you run out of adjustment.

Anyone out there understand these things?

Try these two links for starters

Fyi - the Romanian is not a Dragunov design it is a PSL that is basically an oversized AK action.

you can always put a him in the scope ring. To do this figure if you want to move right or left your point of impact if left put a shim made of pop can in the rear ring on the side you want to POI to move to or oposit for the front ring. I just had to do this for some rings I was mounting on a 22 rifle.

There's no rings. The scope mount and body of the scope are a single casting that rides in a groove on the left side of the receiver.

From the information here http://www.dragunov.net/romanian_psl.html you may be dealing with a recent import which did not have the scope hand-fitted to the rifle.

A lot of the scope mounts for the AKs/PSLs/Drags were made in two pieces and were designed to be adjusted to work with a specific gun, then pinned.
If the mount is made in two pieces and bolted together, it can be adjusted/shimmed. You may have to punch or drill out the pins to do this.

In any case...with any scope mounting...the goal is to get the scope boresighted with the barrel while the windage and elevation adjustments are centered.
Then there should be plenty of adjustment range for close and distant work.

Make sure the scope is going all the way forward. I have the same rifle and the scope was hanging anout 3/4" from the stop. With that pressure mount it will lock and not neccessarily be all the way on. I hade to file and dremmel to get my scope to fit.

Thanks Guys. He's gonna check the serial number and see if it matches the gun. I'll get him to check if it's all the way forward as well.
