Here is my Lyman thermometer in boiling water. When it is at 70 F the needle is at 1000. When it was new it read between the 200 and 1000 mark. Is there a way to tweak this? This happened after it dropped.

I got a turkey frier themometer that is the same way. It read fairly accurate, just 65 degrees too cool. It was put together with a nut at the base but they tack welded it so I never tried to take it apart and fix it. Could be yours is the same way. I know this isn't much help but may give you an idea.
