A friend of mine bought some lead ingots in boxes and the boxes are marked with different numbers, what do the numbers mean if anything.

They are like,

1-1-10
1-1-15 and such.

A friend of mine bought some lead ingots in boxes and the boxes are marked with different numbers, what do the numbers mean if anything.

They are like,

1-1-10
1-1-15 and such. 1-1-10= May be 50/50 lead/tin or lead/ WW.... last number may be 10 BHN / 15 BHN
Possibly the last number is the BHN
Does the last number match with the hardness of the ingot. Drop the ingots to find their relative hardness to each other. ie.... Thud = soft lead /a ring= harder alloy..
Its a code nobody will ever figure out- the last laugh.

I had a friend that suddenly die,he had his motorcycle completly stripped down, every nut and bolt- the last laugh. It took weeks to peice it together and there was nuthin wrong with it.

Maybe lot numbers, first batch on January 10th, etc. More than likely you'll never know for sure.

Expiration dates.

Make sure you use that lead before Jan 1st of 2010 and 2015. :bigsmyl2::kidding:

Factory or from another caster?

I would say they are from another caster but who knows who. This lead came from a store that went out of business and there was several different boxes of lead and a few pieces of like maybe 1/8th inch thick 6"x6" plates.
