I have the Lee 6 cavity handles. Will they fit a Lyman 2 cavity mold?

You betcha. A few minutes with a file and they'll fit RCBS, too.

tHAT'S good news!

I JUST GOT A 311410 and I only have 1 lyman handle and since Midway is now shipping Lee 6 cavity mold handles, I got 2 coming, all my molds will have handles!

Lee strives to make their tools as compatible with other brands as possible. Most of the other companies try to make their tools as limited as possible. One place that shows up is in mold handles.

I am going to show my inexperience here. Since Lee 6 cavity handles come with a price tag of about half the price of Lyman or RCBS handles, are they made to a lesser quality standard? The handles that come on the Lee 2 cavity molds seem pretty lightweight.

The lee handles compared to the lyman, the big difference is the hinge area the lyman is quite a bit beeffier in the hinge, the fork thickness is actually thicker on Lee's close to .30 inch the lyman is .25 in thickness, this way you can file the forks down and re-drill the holes to fit the Lyman 4 cavs. I own both style handles but for the price the lee's are hard to beat.

Also I do not have to beat on my molds, so the additional stength in the Lyman handles is not needed in my application.

Remember you results may vary, if you have molds that you beat on I suspect the Lyman might last longer.

With the molds I have so far, if it takes more than a lite tap or two I investigate to find out why. I saw a video on youtube where the guy was hammering sharply five or six times to get the boolits to release. I just had to cringe.

SciFiJim, Lee's 6-cavity handles have beefier jaws and longer handles than those on their 2-cavity moulds. I bought a set and filed the jaws to fit an RCBS mould. They worked so well, I bought two more pair, because you just never know...

Am I guility of handle hoarding?

captain-03,

The Lee 6-cavity handles are quite a bit heavier than Lyman 2-cavity, and the jaws are longer, too. Be forewarned that they might take some getting used to, what with the extra weight and the mould being waaay out there. I really like them, though.
