Has anyone tried the 38/200 group buy mold in the 35 Remington? I'm just wondering how much throttle that plain base can survive.

About 1400 fps maybe a little more?

I've driven the 173 gr keith bullet around 2100 fps with a styrofoam check from meat trays with no leading and good accuracy. This bullet was water quenched WW. Don't see why the 38/200 gr. can't be driven just as fast when waqter quenched WW is used.

A launch platform like an old 336 with the deep rifling and seven groove barrel with a 16" twist will allow you the most velocity with acceptable accuracy unless you go with a custom job. Naturally, bullet fit is paramount. If you heat treat clip-on WW metal with a bit of range scrap added for extra hardness (that's the 6% Sb commercial stuff) and you have a good lube, you should be able to get off a few good 5 shot groups at 1700 fps with BHN 30 bullets before you need to clean.

I just noticed this post. I used the rather boring 12.7gr. Unique charge for 1627-1671 FPS measured with my Chrony. They were good plinkers and grouped about 1-1/2" @ 50 yds. with peep sight. I'll have to try it again now that my Lasik eye surgery has "kicked in" after the second time thru the laser.

This was out of a 24" Marlin pre-micro also.

If you freechec the boolit, it will stand a lot more than you think it will. It will go well past the point most of the posters here think you can get excellent accuracy at, provided you know what alloy and how to get there.
