I have 3 moulds for my 303 Brit: Lee c312-185-1r, Lee TL312-160-2r, and Lyman
2660299. I've been able to develop loads for the first two that shoot through one big hole at 75 yards (good enough for me), however, I cant get my Lyman to group satisfactorily (yet). It fits the bore tightly now and I get no leading no matter how fast I push the 200 grainers. I've been using 2400 powder exclusively.
I even tried h4895 with the 314299's to no avail. I'd like to be able to work up an accurate hunting load between 1800 and 2000 fps. The rifle is a Lee enfield no. 1 mk3 with an 18.5 inch bbl. The powders I have to play with are : 2400, h4895, IMR 4198, h4831.. I'm all ears if other powders will work but I'd like to use one of the ones I have. The 314299's shoot to a different poa than the others and the load I tried last night was 17gr 2400. From the sitting position, the best I could manage was a 4 inch group at 75 yards. The Lee 160's and the Lee 185's were dead on and grouping tightly shooting from the same position. Please help!

Stick with the 185's and alox the heck out of them.I have that same Lee mold, and two sizers,a .311, and a .308.I can use as cast in my Enfields,or my Moisen Nagant M38,size to .311 in my M44,or even size to .308 for use in my Gibbs.

Lyman 2660299??

He is probably digitally challenged like me, never learned to type.
The throat on that thing might be eroded. I had to go to a 316 boolit in my #1 to get it to shoot. Check and see if the 2 Lee boolits aren't a little bigger than the Lyman on the nose and drive bands.

Actually the 2660299 would be a close approximation of the Cruise Missle.

The 2660299 is the mould that produces the 314299 boolit. The nose of the 314299 is the same diameter as the 185 Lee. The 160 Lee has a larger nose than the other two. I tried it again last evening. I shot a box of 20 Lyman 314299's at 75 yards. The load was 21 grains of A2400 cast out of ACWW. The best I could manage was "minute of pie plate" accuracy. The actual group size was 4 inches....POOP!

Don't confuse the Lyman catalog number with the mould design number. They are not the same anymore.

The number 2660299 is the official part number for the mould. This can be verified on Lyman's web site. Also when my mould was returned to me from the factory, the repair invoice indicated the same.
Now....about that load?......
