Alrighty, time to find a load for my .300 weatherby using some 311291 boolits with IMR 4831 or R25 (those are my main powders right now). Anyone have some good loads with these powders and boolits? If there's a good powder you would recommend have at it, and I can go pick some up.

..................I no experience whatsoever with a 300 Magnum (or any other for that matter, unless you count the 357) but I'd suggest you get yourself some WC860 or 872, or 5010. Since I'm suggesting, I'd also suggest you get the Lyman 311284 at ~215-220grs.

Put about 55 - 60 grs in the case along with some dacron and cap'er off with the heavy Lyman. I'd predict somewhere between 1900 and 2000 fps. A full case in the 30-06 propells a moderately heavy slug along about 2100 fps. A 8x57 goes about 1950 with a 215gr slug.

I think the case will hold "enough WC860" with out going to a heavier boolit and burn properly. My '06 shoots a 311466 with a full case (60 grains) and burns quite well. Velocity is about 2200, recoil is enough for me.

I don't know where to start with 4831, its a slow powder but too little could cause problems.

Lyman Sez....15 to 19 grains of unique or 23 to 28 grains of 2400.

GLM; 93.0 grs of WC860 and a 180 Horn gave 2959 fps out of a 24" Vanguard, about 55 grs with some dacron should put you in the 1700fps range to start. The only 30 cal mag I have ever shot cast in was the 300RUM, one time and it did very good, C309-200-R, 27.0 grs AA 5744, FC210 =1607 fps, no filler and fed from the magazine.

Thanks fellers, this gives me a good starting point on where to go from here.
