Why were the holes changed? Will the new die keep lube off a BB bullet? I would guess not:confused: http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n420/joe1944usa/th_OldTypeLymanHIDie_01.jpg (http://s338.photobucket.com/albums/n420/joe1944usa/?action=view&current=OldTypeLymanHIDie_01.jpg) Is one better then the other? http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n420/joe1944usa/th_NewTypeLymanDie_01.jpg (http://s338.photobucket.com/albums/n420/joe1944usa/?action=view&current=NewTypeLymanDie_01.jpg)

No, the new dies won't keep grease off the BB bullets.

I guess we'll never know why they changed the number of holes. Probably because they didn't need that many. Older and longer rifle bullets may need them but the run of the mill bullet only needs a couple. There are many configurations around with various numbers of holes and I'v eonly run into problems with one bullet on the number/placement of holes.

The main difference is the leade going into the sizing die. Older ones had a sharp cornered, stepped entrance. Now, they have a smooth, beveled entrance and it makes for easier and smoother sizing./beagle

The old dies had that many holes because of the poplarity of Lovern designs with their multiple lube grooves along the entire bearing surface. It was thought with the lubes used back then to lube the bullets mor consitently. "Modern" designs do not require that. Plus why drill the holes adding expense when they are not necessary?
