Does anybody know of a trick to keep my bomar front sight on my 45 slide? It came out about 8 years ago and used a vise-grip type tool with a punch to set it in place. Now it's fallen out twice while practiceing. Did the punch thing again and in no time it was loose again. Tried JB Weld and after the second pratice session, loose again (noticed my shot go low).
Anybody know of a quick fix? I guess the next step is to dovetail the front sight if nobody has a suggestion. Thanks

If this is the "standard" tenon type sight you have three choice's:

1. Silver solder, might ruin blueing.

2. Do the Millett thing and get the "dual Crimp" set up the one on my comp gun is 30 yrs and not loose.

3. Cut the dovetail and pin it in place!

If your gonna do the work yourself go with number three! The Millett DC tool is just to darn costly to deal with even if you were a smith in business for yourself! I used to have one and if the dove tail sights had been around in 1981 I wouldn't have owned one!

I will say it has worked will and I have on issue with it I just think it's pricey for a set of vise grips!

+1; have a dovetail front sight installed and never look back! BTDT, it sucks; I don't know why John Browning didn't design it that way in the beginning.

Restaking the front sight is a poor option in my opinion. Have a dovetail cut for whatever front sight you please and go on with your life. It also makes replacement a lot easier if you choose to do so.

Try a drop of red locktight.
