Anybody know if there are any feeding problems converting a 71 to AI but keeping same caliber? How about taking it up to 416? I know there are problems with 450 and above but dont know about the smaller ones

Assuming you're speaking of converting the basic 348 WCF?
I know there is a certain urge to convert cartridges to fatter ones. Of course the famous Johnson conversions started the fad. I don't know the problems that may be encountered with feeding or the heavier recoil ripping the mag tube off the barrel but those are being handled currently by those (experienced with the process) converting the 348 to fatter. My question is always why? If the 348 basic feeds well and shoots well why mess with it? I have the 348 version and have no trouble getting all the power I want to shoot out of the original. It has proven to be a very accurate cast bullet cartridge using 200-225 gr bullets. Seems like an alternative would be to get an 1886 in 45-70 and cover the bases without any conversion.
