Lloyd--RCBS 308 FL die set coming to ya with an additional neck sizer die, hasn't been near a shell casing in 20 years and if I keep it, never will. I know that has to be a terrible feeling in the pit of your stomach when you look out the window. Good luck my friend. Nick

Lloyd, if you can get your steel mold's out try submerging them in a bucket of diesel. It has a good rust inhibitor in it. Offroad, heavy equipment, works best. We use it on the boat for penatenting oil. ya one day i'll learn to speeell.

Lloyd,
Will be sending you a Dillon set of carbide 357 dies, RCBS Carbide 454 Dies and a set of Lyman shellholders.
If I said I have a little knowledge of what you are going through, please believe me when I say I do.
Patience is possibly the one most important thing.
It's taken me a year to get where I am ready to start reloading again-but I am and with almost a vengence.:Fire:
As you are finding out, friends can make a big difference(Thanks again Ken:drinks:)
Good luck and just look for the good-like you've found here.
Interestingly enough my primers were at ground zero(or 1100F) and survived.
Biggest surprise of all to me.
Good luck with all recoveries and keep HIM in mind as well.

Also have an old RCBS Jr. press you're welcome to use until your final stuff arrives; I was going to list it in the PIF group anyway to get a newbie going.

I'll hold off packing until you let me know about the press.

Lloyd, I'll get the 7.62X39 dies off to you with any brass and bullets I can find. I also have 5 boxes of 250 Savage factory ammo that was given to me that I haven't found a home for till now. Hope we aren't creating too much of a storage problem for you by rushing this stuff off, but things put off have a way of getting left undone. I'll finish up the box with some WW metal, as I'm blessed with a good supply, and they can be stored outside. Really enjoy seeing the response from the brotherhood. Two boxes went off in the mail today, one with several hundred 45ACP cases and a few 30-30 cases and a second one with 44Mag and 38Spl brass. Considering all the supplies that appear to be headed your way, it looks as if you'd better start figuring out somewhere to store a lot of material until such time as you can rebuild your barn and get your reloading bench set up once again. Hang in there. And as someone mentioned, enjoy yourself when you start purchasing new equipment - it'll be just like Christmas!!

I had a camp that burned some years ago that I had quite a bit of lead stored in. I wasn't able to recover any of it so I'm wondering if Lloyd is able to recover any of his.

Why not?

The lead should still smelt out just fine - as long as you/he didn't have buckets full of Zincers sitting in immediate proximity to the Lead.

Smelting/refining is smelting/refining. Shouldn't matter how much other trash is in the lump...

(Yes the BHN will be odd... but better than a stick in the eye...)

Having smelted incredibly dirty radiator shop drip tank gunk to get the solder, I can tell you that dirt and the rest of the junk melted in will float to the top. It's a dirty, smelly job, but some should be recoverable. If I lived within driving distance I would offer to do it for you, but CA is a bit far away.

How difficult is it to send a few hundred primers? I have some CCI large pistol primers I could donate, and some various (sorted) brass in handgun calibers. You didn't ask for 9mm (that I saw) but it seems folks are sending it. Do you have a use for it, because I've got a shopping bag full.

Seems like you're going to be getting an awful lot of mixed brass from ranges, Lloyd--do you have one of those shell sorting tools? I'm in the process of making one for myself now, but I see that Midway has them for sale for around $40, sorting out .45 ACP, 9mm, and .40 S&W. Probably cheaper than sending one of my home-made sets in the mail.

(Yes the BHN will be odd... but better than a stick in the eye...)Under that kind of heat the lead will find cracks and crevices that you wouldn’t believe, plus all of the debris on top of it. Believe me, a lot of it will be hard to recover.

It's DOT HazMat...

That is true. I wanted to send some primers by my sister who lives in Mi. but it was still too far to drive to be feasible for Lloyd. I wish there was an easy way to get primers up there. I even Goggled a map. Lloyd lives too far north of my sister to come pick them up. I was hoping that perhaps that he was sort of in line with her destination somehow but not. Lloyd is almost a Canadian.
