Man, I really like this 454 Casull Puma. This thing shoots anything I run through it like no tomorrow. 2 weeks ago I shot a 2 inch 10 shot group with the following loads:
335gr CP WFNGC 23gr H110
1440
1410
1406
1426
1411

335gr 26gr H110
forgot to turn on the chrony for the first 2 shots- duh...
1676
1651
1648

Today I bumped it up and it shot like a dream:

335gr CP WFNGC 27gr H110
~~~~~
1827
1842
1848
1834
Avg 1837
335gr CP WFNGC 28gr H110
1963
1936
1926
1948
1958
Avg1946
I put the first two in, had a flyer to the right, let my buddy shoot it and he shot the flyer to the left, I then put the 3rd one in. This looks like it otta be a great moose huntin round.
We also shot these. All of these rounds were at 25 yds and I never touched the sights!
We also shot 255gr Keith style with 10.5 gr Unique:
Now it'll be time to jet get out and shoot and see how she (and I, mostly I) do at 50 and 100yds+
This is one great little rifle. Did I say I LIKE this gun?!?!
At about 1950 fps your bullet has about 2700 footpounds of energy. It should make a great BIG game bullet, with about 1500-1600 footpounds remaining at 150 yards!
Snyd - nice groups. Stretch it out more cause the bullet will make it. Here's what a '60 Henry and the Casull will do at 500 meters ...
Dang JohnBoy, you're shooting rams at 500 yds?? :???: I shot this one at 400 but I was using a 325wsm with a 200gr Accubond at 2950fps with a Leupold 2.5-8x36 scope on her! I've worked up a good round for the little kitty so now I'll get out and start shooting some longer ranges and see how the trajectory is. It should be a deadly moose/bear gun and usually 30-150 yds or so is about the average shot. Although I did kill a bull at 315yds one time, but again I had the Kimber 325wsm. I don't think I can get myself to leave the 325 at home this sheep season, at least not yet anyway :D
Thanks for the numbers and yup, that's the plan. Moose/bear hunting and bear protection while the wife and I are in the blueberries in the fall.
