Hello,

I am new to reloading shotgun shells, I have reloaded rifle and pistol for many years now, but no shotshells so i went out and bought me the lyman shotshell book. i want to reload #2 buck. the book calls for 15 pellets (for #1 buck)witch i understand that they need to aranged in order by hand. My question is...... can i take the wieght of the #1 buckshot and match the wieght to #2 buck shot and load it???????

Buskshot loads in a shotshell tend to be stacked such as 3 00 to a stack. Sometimes you will see these recommendations for different size buckshot for that reason such as #3 in a 20 gauge as they fit better into a shell. Also the pellets are large enough such that you will not get equivalent weghts. There is 437.5 grains to an ounce. Use that and weigh a pellet or two to get the weight for the charge you want. you will not likely get an even 1 1/4 or 1 1/8 oz load.
