Gunnies, gun store,In Orem, UT just received two Ruger 44 spls. from Lipsey's. One 5.5 in. bl. and one 4 5/8 in. After learning about the special run of 44's for Lipsey's on this forum, I hustled right down and ordered one. It took about two months to get it, but it finally came in.

On my recommendation, they went ahead and ordered a couple more. {Hope I didn't lead em astray.} Anyway, just a friendly fyi. They also have quite a few cci primers of all types. They're limiting them to one thousand a day per person. Which I feel is very fair.

P.S. As of 7:00 pm, the rugers were not logged in or put on display. I'm half way tempted to go buy one of em. JUST BECAUSE. So somebody, please save me from myself.

Just saw these in Handloader. That's one of Rugers better ideas.

I've had mine, with a 4 5/8" bbl for less than a week, paid $489...and it's been a busy one here in KY. Made a Tom Threepersons holster for it, cast a thousand 429215 GC Lymans from WW, lubed with LLA and sized .432" so they'd shoot thru my Marlin 336 in .44 Mag.

Here's the recipes so far. All were put up in Starline Brass, with Win LP primers. The Unique is the current stuff, ie, just a little faster than the old kind. All of the following gps were shot from a sitting back rest position at 25 yds:

7.0 gr of Unique shoots an inch to 1.5" with Hornady GC
same as above w/o gc ~ 2"
7.5 gr Unique 1.5"
8 gr Unique < 2"

Hornady 200 gr XTP,
7.5 gr Unique, 1"...3 five shot gps
Same as above with 8.0 gr of Unique, 1.125"
Same with 8.3 gr Unique, 1.5"

Valley 200 gr TNC, (this bullet is sized at .430"...gotta try 429215 at this smaller diameter to see if I can shrink the gps even farther...but 63 yo eyes are the limiting factor now.)
7.5 gr of Unique, 1.5"
7.0 gr of Unique, 1.25"

Remington 240 JHP's
7.5 gr of Unique....5+"...what the ....? Jacket too hard? And yes I cleaned the barrel after the cast loads so I'd get a descent test. These bullets shoot inch gps with my Marlin at 50 yds, but at far greater velocity. The Marlin slugs at .433" by the way.

No leading with any of the above.

My one criticism so far is the timing, which allows the bolt to ride along the cylinder between notches leaving that bloomin' white trail. And yeah, I'm loading and cocking correctly.

It's a great handgun and one that I've waited since Skeeter's early 70's stories on converting .357 BH's to .44 special.

By the way, factory Winchester 200 gr Silver Tips shot into 7/8"...five of 'em, gotta save the rest. Don't know how fast these are going, they generated less recoil than the handloads above.

I dont have a ruger, but i do have a s&w 696 44 sp. My load is 17gr. H4227 or imr 4227 with a lyman 429215 and a mag primer. Clean and very accurate. I suspect you could load it a bit higher in the ruger.
