I cast but I also swage. When I run out of copper jackets, my swaging may end unless it is practical to lube swaged lead bullets. Will the Lee lube prevent leading since there will not be any grooves, just a smooth sidewall surface. I don't believe that I have seen this discussed anywhere so any help is appreciated.

I have run cast lubed bullets through the swage dies and and get good looking results, but this is doing everything twice. By this, I mean I am casting, and lubing and then swaging. All the last step does is change the nose configuration to a smooth transition rather than stepped. The lube was beeswax so it stayed in place in the grooves.

You could try molycoating them.

Maybe tumble lubing with Alox would work for you. It clings to the entire surface, so would at least give you some lube. It might be worth trying a few to see if you get any leading. Let us know if it works out.

I have swaged lead (no jacket) bullets, and used the channelur tool to put grooves in them, then lubed them. Works OK

I know what moly grease is but what form is it in when used for bullet lube?

I'm shooting 9mm and .45 acp. I am swaging and casting the 9mm and casting only the .45. I am using Lee molds with the small grooves made for tumble lubing.

I will try lubing the swaged bullets with the Lee Alox and see what happens. After I figure out what the moly is, I will give it a try also.

Thanks for your help.

I am doing just that - lubing bullets with no lube grooves. My tests are inconclusive as I have not fired hundreds of rounds but I have been doing some preliminary testing and have found a method that seems to work for me. I have one test group fired at 50yds - a mere three shots but four others had a similar POI and group size. This is without any sign of leading in the bore!

The bullets gets a hot dip on its base before seating (the idea is to form a 'wax wad' which leaves lube in the bore) and then gets dipped again after seating to carry an external coating of 'waxy-lube'.
