Guys, I've made up a .40 cal. drop in barrel to fit my T-C Seneca muzzleloader and would like to have a mold to cast conical bullets for it. Unfortunately, there seems to be no such critter.

What I'd like to know from someone who's got one is what size is the Lee TL401-175-SWC bullet in pure lead? If it's .400 or a skosh larger, it would very likely work well as a conical in my muzzleloader, but I'd like to know before I buy a mold.

The reaon for a conical is that the .390" roundball for the .40 cal. barrel weighs 92 grains, a tad light although it imeets the legal minimum for deer in WA State, and the 175 gr. Lee, if it performs in a 1:48 twist 36" barrel, would be far superior.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I had one a while ago and it dropped about .403 with WWs.

Do you reload? If so, get a Lee push through sizer to make it the size you want and don't worry!

Like randyrat, mine drops just under .403 with WW alloy. I don't ever cast in pure lead, so I can't say what it would be.

I moulded some up and they came out to .401-2 and a little bigger at the front driving band like .403-4. I could send them to you to try if you like and size them to .401 also if you like. Let me know.

mooman76's came out a little bigger than mine. Mine were .401 average.
