357 mag vs 45acp for CCW and trail gun.

I'm currently packing a 2 1/2" model 66.
Thinking about a commander sized 1911 as well.
What are your opinions on the merits of these 2 cartridges for the purposes I've stated above?
By the way, I WILL be spending the summer in the wilderness areas of Wyoming, so this isn't just a mental exercise.

I carried a 4" mdl66 and a 1911. If I had to choose between the 2, I would probably go with the 66. I have hunted a fair amount with both handguns and I think tht the 357 might give me a slight advantage in range. I am also just a tad faster to acquire and hit my target with the 66. Just my personal preference. Actually, I would probably take my Blackhawk in 45lc 4 5/8". In any event you cannot go wrong with either one.
