I tried some cast 358439's composed of 50/50 WW and pure lead, (by volume). The as cast weight of 1 sample was 157.5 with lube. These were shot into 1 gallon water jugs, and penetrated 18" plus. The load was .38 spl., 5.5 grs. of Unique, and averaged 850 fps. from a 1-7/8" S&W mod 60.

Impressive! Now, just go ahead and box that mold up and ship it my way ;)

That is very similar to how I got my own start with cast HPs. It's a funny kind of addiction, but it's a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Those are awesome boolits! Perfect expansion. Did the recovered boolits still weight 157gr?

Those are the recovered weights. 1 lost 1/2 grain, (probably the lube), the other 1 full grain. We tried 5 or 6 into a block of Maple, and no matter how mangled they looked, they all were within a couple grains of as fired weight.

Tried Power Pistol, and Bullseye today. The Power Pistol had a wide velocity variation, even at my max load. Bullseye got me to the low 900's for velocity, and was more consistant, but I began getting a little leading. I will probably back down to the 850 fps. range and be content.

Well done! I agree, it's kind of addicting making your own LHP.
