Ok, so I bit the boolit and spent some cash on a Star. I read some threads and will get the lyman heater. My question is should I expend the time and effort and money to get the star punches and dies or just order what I need from magma?

Thought i would add a pic. Does anyone know what shade of Blue to repaint this with?

Contact our member "Lathesmith," his dies are top quality and cost less than Magma.

I have some of Lathesmiths dies and they are great!

I also nose size. So a flat punch is all you need rather than one for each nose design/caliber.

Three work for me: .305 .350 and .427 These three flat "top" punch's do everything from 309 30-30 boolits to my gas checked 45-70 boolits.

What's with the hose clamp in that picture?

It plugs up the overfill hole so I can run 6" lube sticks with my air feed.

You mean I could have made my lube molds (PVC pipe sections) 6 inches long instead of 4 inches??

:groner:

Just by adding a simple hose clamp??

:-?

It's not a big deal. I was planning on storing my lube inside .50 cal ammo cans anyway, so the 4" length I cut them at will work just fine.

You are right, it doesnt matter much anyway, I melt mine and pour in in, no air pockets that way.

I have the heater base for my Star, so I guess it doesn't matter much if I have air pockets or not.

Plus I have the pneumatic ram on it too.
