Got it last year from a friend who has no idea what model number it is.

I believe they called that the model 15, My BIL has one just like it and thats what it says on the box.

Hang on to that barrel nut tool! They are darn hard to come by!

I have 5 barrel nuts, CZUSA has them for 5.95 each. Model 15, thanks!

I want to say they also referred to the vent rib in the designation, "Model 15VH", or some such?

I believe it it was called 15-2VH. I use to work there in 1975-1976, when I left I was in charge of the blueing room. I use to blue 250+ guns a day back then.

Look up the Dan Wesson forum they have a lot of info there. Your DW looks the same as mine and the # is close to mine as well. It was made in the early 80s.

If the designations stay the same througout the line , the short barrel pistol would be called a model 15 vh or vent heavy!

the heavy underlug and vented upper is the vh designation.
use the 6" bbl the pachmeyer grips 38 special brass a lyman 158 swc sized to 358 and about 800 fps velocity with a .002 bbl gap and shoot it in front of your friend. then sell it back to him for double.

Hell, if you're wanting to sell it, I'll offer a small child who works very hard!!!

There's 3 barrels that came with this gun, the 4" thats installed, the 8" shown above it, and the 2" or 2.5", not sure which one it is. I ordered some barrel nuts from CZ so i have a total of 5 now for "just in case".

Now for the good news.... I only paid $225 for the complete outfit. It was getting close to Christmas last year and he needed some quick cash, he calls me and offers it to me for $250, I only had 225 to spend and he took it. Sorry guys it's not for sale, it's a sweet shooter and a good looking gun too! My 1st DW revolver, hopefully not my last.

Trey45: I had a Dan Wesson just like yours - M15-2VH. Great shooter. Gave it to my younger brother. It came with the 8" bbl only. I proceeded to purchase the other three bbls to make it a complete set. Also acquired the Pachmeyer grip, but that was before I knew I was going to give it away. Exceptionally accurate. When I could hold still enough, it would shoot one-hole groups. 'Tuck

I was looking on GB for DW revolvers and there's a guy who's selling one of these 'broken up'. Selling all the barrels and even the frame seperate. What a tool.

When I 1st got this DW I went to GB to look around for barrels, accessories etc, I saw a few guys doing the same thing, breaking up pistol packs, selling it off a piece of a time, you're right, complete tools.....

The basic gun is the Model 15. The top barrel is the 15V or Vent rib and the bottom is the 15 VH or Vent Heavy. The grips are the first issue standard grips and the others are to OS target grips. Had one of these tuned and shot ppc with it for a season. Very accurate but the action was not as slick as a Smith.
