Here is a " Pet Load " that I'll share.
I had 4 in a ' ragged hole ' and you guessed it,
...............the 5th one flew slightly high and
left out of the group.

A super accurate load out of my 358 Win.

You can easily see that the gas check shank
protrudes down past the end of the case neck.
Many say this is a " No - No ", I can't tell that
it has any effect on my accuracy.

What velocity are you getting with this load? Looks like something I will have to try.

hicard :

I'm ashamed to say that I don't have a chrony. That load ( above ) with 14.5 grs. 2400 sounds a little punny........NOT SO...it has some authority.

If you chrony the load would you please share the results with all of us.

Many thanks,

Ben

I am a big fan of the .358, and have had mine shoot good groups like that. Is that a 358009 mold ? Ive wanted one of those for awhile, but I'm not going to pay what people are getting for them on evil bay. I've been thinking about getting Old Western to cut me one.:drinks:

Yes, this one is the " Real McCoy ", a Lyman 358009 double cav. ( although I only cast out of the front cav. for uniformity purposes ).

Mine cast out great. The nose of my 009's engrave well in all my .35 cal. barrels. Driving bands mike .3615 which is just about perfect for my applications.

I size to .3596 with a Lee Push thru sizer that I have polished out and opened up slightly.

It is a shooter !

Here is another load that shoots well out of my rifle with the 358009 :

Will do. Do you have any feeding problems seating the bullet at the crimp groove?

I don't have any by seating at that point.

ben just make a mark in the grease groove of the second hole then you can pour both and separate them.

I shot over the chrony Sunday and got around 1290 FPS with your other load of 14.5 grs of 2400. One hole group also.

I liked it. Rang the metal gongs at 100 yds pretty hard. I am now experimenting with 13 gr Unique loads with both my 358 Win with 158-205 gr bullets, 308 with 150-180 gr bullets and 30-06. I am about through with hot loads that will work the semi auto actions and am looking at something accurate and capable of killing a deer and will not work the actions so I don't have to chase brass. I'm really getting comfy with the lighter recoil.

Accurate, inexpensive, easy on the shoulder, easy on the rifle, no chasing brass...........what else could you ask for ?
